FERGUSON: “Dear Sir, I here with tender you my resignation on account of disability. I am 1st Lieut. In Company (B), 16th Regiment of Va. Cavalry, having received a wound across the left ankle joint and severing the tenders of the muscles, which renders me unable to perform the duties of a soldier. I hope you will act on this and give me an answer soon. I remain your obt. Servt., Isaiah D. Ball, 1 st Lieut. Co (B), 16 Regt of Va Cavalry.”
