The final major battle of the War of 1812 was The Battle of New Orleans, which was fought from the 8th to the 18th of January 1815, because the news of a Christmas Eve 1814 peace agreement did not reach America until February 1815.​​

DATE OF BIRTH:  21 December, 1788, Sullivan County, North Carolina (now Tennessee).
PARENTS: Margaret Eakin and Samuel Brashear, who served in the American Revolutionary War and Indian Hostilities.
SPOUSE:  Margaret “Peggy” Bright.
SONS:  Isaac, Ezekial, Harvey G., Jesse C., William Rutledge and Hezekiah served in the 13th Kentucky Cavalry, Confederate States Army, American Civil War.
ENLISTMENT DATE:  13 November 1814; Discharged 18 May 1815.
COMBAT ORGANIZATION:  Captain James Landen’s Company, Fifth Regiment, Tennessee militia.
MILITARY PENSION GRANTED.
DATE OF DEATH:  1 October 1878. 
PLACE OF DEATH:  Perry County, Kentucky.
