AKA:  UNCLE IRA COMBS; OLD REGULAR BAPTIST PREACHER, IRA COMBS.
HOMETOWN:  Perry County, Kentucky, USA.
OTHER RESIDENCE:  Hazard Post Office, Mason’s Creek Magisterial District, Hamdin Precinct, Viper and Jeff in Perry County, Kentucky.
DATE OF BIRTH:  29 May 1844, Perry County, Kentucky.
PARENTS:  Elizabeth Ison and Tarleton “Talton” Combs.
SPOUSE:  (1) Martha Burton.  (2) Matilda Francis.

DISCHARGE DATE:  March 1864.
RANK:  First Sergeant.
COMBAT ORGANIZATION:  Company M, 14th Kentucky Regiment Volunteers, Union Army.
MILITARY SERVICE:  I based Ira Combs’ military data on the U. S., Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles and on the 1890 Veterans Schedule of a Viper residence list.  Union Soldiers on the Viper Veterans Schedule:  Ira Combs, Theophilus Asher Woods and Theo’s father-in-law, John Cornett (all of Company M, 14th Kentucky Regiment Volunteers) had enlisted the same year at Irvine, Estill County, Kentucky and all had mustered out of service on 24 March 1864 at Camp Nelson, Kentucky.  Therefore, I do NOT think that our Ira Combs was the person, who had served in the Confederate States Army in the 4th Infantry and was born about 1840.
